Abraham-Louis Breguet was born in 1747 in Nauchatel. When he was 12 his father left family and the mother married Joseph Tottet who lately took Abraham-Louis to Paris to work in a watch workshop. Breguet began studying the art of watchmaking in the workshop and mathematics at college. Soon he found his first patron. In 1775 he founded his first watch store. Step by step he joined Paris swell society where his watches became fantastically popular.
In 1783 Breguet got a very prestigious order – a watch for the queen of France Marie-Antoinette. An admirer of the queen ordered “the most complicated watch the world ever saw”. Marie Antoinette model was presented only in 1827, 4 years after Breguet’s death. This watch is still known as one of the world’s most complicated and most luxurious watches.
During French revolution Breguet moves to Switzerland where he, together with watch makers from Geneva and La Valle de Joux launches new watch workshop.
In 1810 Breguet became official supplier to French Royal Fleet. As the result Marine model was developed. Marine is a very accurate chronometer. Today Marine collection is one of the world’s most popular watch models.
Being a very talented watch maker who has made a fantastic number of inventions in horology, Breguet got many awards, prizes and titles. In 1816 he was voted a member of Royal Academy of Science.

Collections
Classic – these are thin and flat automatic watches or watches with manual winding. Classic watches have a variety of additional functions: chronograph, jumping hour, tourbillon and many others. Marine.Today’s Marine is the modern version of watches that were made for French Royal Fleet in 1815. Marine watches are characterized by massive waterproof case with screw-in crown. Case back features engraving “Horloger de la Marine” or just “Marine”. Female jewelry Marine watches are encrusted with diamonds and feature white or yellow gold cases.
Type XX Aeronovalle:the main purpose of this collection is to show historical connection between aeronautics and the art of horology. Prototypes of this series were developed in 1950 for French pilots. In 1995 the whole series was presented.
