2006: Zenith Watches - The Defy Collection

Mon, 07 August 2006

new Zenith watchZenith is launching a new dual collection, called Defy (Classic and Xtreme), which can definitely be called sporty and chic, are based on unusual designs, advanced horological technologies, and excellent performance.

Designed like a sport car, the new DEFY watches make a positive impression with their rigid athletic construction, high legibility, and reliability. On the wrist it is impressive and compelling, thanks also to the different watch diameters that differ depending on the movement: 46.5 mm of the El Primero chronograph or 43 mm of the Elite series. Every single feature of these watches seems to make them outstand and differ: from the ornamental screw heads in the rotating bezel, to the beautiful stainless steel bracelet.

Modern materials equip these unique watches with a movement and a watchcase designed for usage under severe conditions because these timepieces are rigidly built, able to stand high and low temperatures and pressure. These works of horology are the result of 3 years of hard work. The bridges of the movements are made of Zenithium, an exclusive ultra light and ultra resistant alloy.

Zenith Defy collection is made up of the following models: Defy Xtreme Open, Defy Xtreme Tourbillon, Defy Xtreme Chronograph, Defy Xtreme Power Reserve, Defy Classic Open, Defy Classic Chrono Aero, Defy Classic Power Reserve, Defy Classic HMS.

The movement of the chronograph is the automatic El Primero 4021SC with 39 jewels and does 36.000 oscillations per hour. The rotor is made of wolfram and has a guilloche pattern.

The stainless steel case measures 46.5mm, has a small second hand at the 9 o'clock position, power reserve indicator, central second hand and 30-minute counter at the 3 o'clock position.

It is waterproof up to 984 feet (300 meters), and features a screw-down winding crown, buttons and back. The 3mm sapphire crystal boasts excellent anti-reflection coating.

The Power Reserve models with the self-winding Elite caliber 685SC boast 38 jewels and a 50 hour power reserve. The case on these watches measure 43mm and is water-resistant up to 984 feet too.
The HMS model of the collection is another horological masterwork fitted with the super thin automatic caliber Elite 680SC with 26 jewels and a 50 hour power reserve. The case measures 43mm and is waterproof up to 984 feet.

And the outstanding feature of the Defy Xtreme watches is that they are water resistant up to 1000 meters (almost 3281 feet)!
